Corky Enright, not-too-athletic boy of 14, feels rejected for his older brother, Dan, continually receives praise from their dad by winning whenever the two compete. Determined to win approval, Corky tries to outdo Dan and his life is threatened by an accident. When his dad comes to his aid and almost loses his life, Corky realizes that winning is unimportant for his dad loves him equal to his brother.
