The Astros defeated the Red Sox in Game 4 of the American League Division Series, thanks to a go-ahead eighth-inning single from Josh Reddick, to move on to the ALCS for the first time in franchise history. Alex Bregman homered in the same frame to tie it up, an Justin Verlander delivered 2 2/3 innings of one-run ball in relief after Charlie Morton, who gave up two runs in 4 1/3 frames. Boston also called on its ace from the 'pen; Chris Sale gave up two runs in 4 2/3 innings after Rick Porcello yielded two runs in three frames. The Red Sox offense came on Xander Bogaerts homer, which snapped an 0-14 skid, an Adrew Benintendi big fly and a Rafael Devers inside-the-parker. George Springer drove in an early run for Houston, and Carlos Beltran added insurance in the ninth.
