Résumé de l'épisode 16

Casey Stoner took his tenth win of 2011 and clinched his second world title at Phillip Island with a dominant display, ahead of Marco Simoncelli second and Andrea Dovizioso third. In a race affected by climatic conditions, Repsol Honda’s Stoner was crowned World Champion on home soil after delivering a flawless race. From pole position, the Australian was never headed and managed to keep his cool as other riders slipped off, as heavy rain began to fall in the closing stages of the race. Simoncelli (San Carlo Honda Gresini Team) edged out Dovizioso (Repsol Honda) in the final laps, with the third Repsol Honda rider, Dani Pedrosa, finishing fourth. Yamaha Factory Racing’s riders’ Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies, both failed to take part in the race after suffering injuries during the weekend. The Spaniard lost the tip of his little finger and the Texan cracked a rib, meaning just 14 riders lined up on the starting grid. Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Colin Edwards produced a strong result in fifth and it was a happy day for the Pramac Racing Team who produced their best result of the season, with Randy de Puniet in sixth and Loris Capirossi in ninth. Ducati Team’s Valentino Rossi crashed out whilst overtaking Álvaro Bautista (Rizla Suzuki), the Spaniard later also tumbled out as the rain fell. The white flag was shown - meaning riders could change bikes, only two riders chose this option, Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) and Capirossi. Cal Crutchlow (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) and Hiroshi Aoyama (San Carlo Honda Gresini) also had identical accidents in the wet, which put them out of the race.
