Bill Sherwood, a 12-year-old, hates waiting to grow up and his impatience oftentimes gets him into trouble. Capt. Marvel comes to his rescue but that doesn't discourage Bill from trying to catch up to his big brother, Larry. An incident occurs when Larry almost loses his life due to Bill's lack of experience and Capt. Marvel saves him in the nick of time. The near tragedy shakes Bill, waking him to realize that he is still a boy. Billy encourages Bill, telling him that his realization is the first step toward growing up.
