Crime By The Numbers (EP7)
Résumé de l'épisode 7
In 1994, the New York City Police Department began using CompStat, an organizational computer management tool, intended to map crime and identify problems. In 2008, because of concerns about the possible misuse of CompStat, a NYPD officer named Adrian Schoolcraft began secretly recording police conversations at the 81st Precinct in Brooklyn. He brought these tapes, many of which focused on meeting quotas and mischaracterizing crimes, to NYPD investigators in October 2009 as evidence of corruption and wrongdoing within the department. In 2010, frustrated by what he thought was a lack of action by top brass, Schoolcraft released his recordings to the Village Voice. Adrian’s life then became a living hell, as he was forced to deal with the fall-out form these revelations.
